Prepping for DFC

Just got back from a great camping weekend with my family and now I am home preparing for the launch for Designed For Culture! DFC is The Soap Collective’s latest project, a web magazine highlighting and discussing the importance of design in our culture and is written for a general public readership. Check it out when it goes live tomorrow, July 12th.

My Brand New Site!

I have officially launched my brand new website! A huge thank you goes out to Logan Dwight, who created my new design. Check out his stuff, he’s a great designer and artist. Also, you can check out my introduction blog post. It’s a short read I promise.

Introduction

Welcome to my new and improved website and blog! The site was designed courtesy of my friend and business partner Logan Dwight. I love the explosion of color he incorporated into paint splatter around the border of my content. I also really like the font he chose to use for my name and page headers, Kilogram. It’s a free open font that allowed me to use CSS3 @font-face throughout my site. Definitely check out his other work over at his site. I’ve been experimenting a lot with Wordpress (WP) and creating my own custom themes. To really see if I had learned anything I decided to build my new site using WP as my back-end engine. I never really understood all the hype about WP until I started using it, and now I can safely say it’s an amazing tool. Developing and customizing WP is pretty easy and there is great documentation for almost anything you want to do. The end result with my site is a pretty customized iteration of WP.
